FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
Houston, TX – March 03, 2010 – Following last night’s election results, Michael Mauldin officially became the Republican nominee for Texas State Senator District 13.
In reaction to the election, Michael commented “ I’m both excited and humbled to be a candidate for the Texas Senate. I joined this race because I felt a calling from my community and my faith to stand up and try to make a difference. District 13 is located right in the heart of Houston and I plan to run a positive campaign for the heart of Houston.”
When asked what the focus of his campaign will be, Michael said “I want this election to be a choice; a clear choice between keeping things as they are or going in a new direction focused on solutions and results. This election shouldn’t be about partisan politics, because the problems we face affect Democrat and Republican alike. I’m running for State Senator because I want to focus on solving the systematic problems in District 13.”
Michael went on to say “Our communities have the same devastating problems we had 20 years ago - high jobless rates, large numbers of high school dropouts and now the 2nd largest abortion clinic in the world. Rodney Ellis has been our State Senator for 20 years, but his record is insufficient at best.”
